This atlas presents in visual form much of the crucial material relating to the performance of heat engines from the earliest to present times.
The first part of the book deals with the most modern engines. Such recent developments as the Wankel and Stirling motor and Rocket enginesof the Saturn V are included. Calculations of the orbital flight for Apollo 11 are based on official NASA reports. Metric and British units are used in parallel with double scales. The second part covers the evolution of heat engines. It presents cross-section reproductions of over forty heat engines of the past 300 years and gives a systematic account of the developments which have led to present-day achievements. All calculations are based upon original papers and reports of the period concerned. Thermodynamic power cycles and probable future trends are also indicated.
